At least four to five polling agents of the BNP are allegedly assaulted by the ruling Awami League activists in the capital’s Satarkul area.

At least four to five polling agents of the BNP were allegedly assaulted by the ruling Awami League activists in the capital’s Satarkul area this morning.

The polling agents of BNP were trying to set up a booth at Satarkul Dwin Mohammad Girls’ Dakhil Madrasa in Dhaka-11 constituency when alleged AL activists swooped on them, leaving four to five agents injured, our staff correspondent reports.

Presiding Officer Hafizur Rahman said, “We could not start voting at the right time due to absence of the BNP agents here”.

AL agents were seen at every centres in Dhaka-11 constituency.

Contacted, Sub-Inspector Sayedul Islam, who was posted at the madrasa centre, said a scuffle between the AL and BNP activists took place in the morning.

However, the situation is normal now, he added.
