Kushtia-1 BNP candidate sent to jail

A Kushtia court today sent Reza Ahmed Bachchu, a BNP candidate from Kushtia-1 (Daulatpur) constituency, to jail in connection with two cases filed in January under the explosives act.

Kushtia District and Sessions Judge Arup Kumar Goswami passed the order when Reza appeared before the court and sought bail, our local correspondent reports quoting Public Prosecutor Anup Kumar Nandi.

Reza was on eight-month High Court bail which expired yesterday, Prosecutor Nandi said.

The election will be held on December 30.
