Bangladesh government is to launch a campaign on cyber security and safety following the global ransomware attack that affected computers in nearly 100 countries.

Bangladesh government will launch a campaign on cyber security and safety following the global ransomware attack that affected computers in nearly 100 countries since Friday.

At least thirty computers were reportedly affected so far in the country by the attack, a non-government research organisation said today.

Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission will carry out the campaign immediately engaging mass media, said Subir Kishore Choudhury, acting secretary of Information Communication Technology division.

Meanwhile, the telecom division today held a meeting on cyber security where representatives of ICT division, telecom regulators and law enforcing agencies were present. Tarana Halim, the state minister for Telecom, presided over the meeting.
