Kevin Roepke has been appointed executive director of the US Soybean Export Council (USSEC) for its Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia (MENASA) operations, effective October 1, according to a statement from the USSEC released on October 6.

Roepke will lead USSEC's efforts to build trust, grow relationships, and strengthen market access for US soy across the region, for the mutual benefit of US soy farmers and international customers, the statement said.

"Guided by our core values and commitment to continuous improvement on behalf of US soybean farmers, USSEC regularly assesses its effectiveness and efficiency," said Jim Sutter, USSEC's chief executive officer.

"The new structure strengthens USSEC's focus on strategic priorities, vital relationships, and ensures US soy remains the trusted partner of choice for customers around the world," Sutter added.

"It is an honour for me to step into this role," said Roepke. "I'm driven to connect America's soybean farmers to the global market. Their sustainable practices expand economic activity and nutrition security, both at home and abroad."

USSEC members represent the soy supply chain, including US soy farmers, processors, commodity shippers, merchandisers, allied agribusinesses, and agricultural organisations.

USSEC is funded by the US soybean checkoff, USDA Foreign Agricultural Service matching funds, and the industry.
