Eco-tourism, heritage preservation, and stronger collaboration stressed at Dhaka roundtable

The tourism sector leaders stressed eco-tourism, community involvement, and the preservation of heritage sites as key drivers for attracting more international visitors to Bangladesh.

At a discussion organised to observe World Tourism Day, they also said the tourism sector has vast potential if guided by sustainable practices.

The discussion further pointed to the need for strong collaboration between government agencies, private entrepreneurs, and local communities to achieve meaningful transformation.

The Tourism Alliance Society organised the event in Dhaka at the Days Hotel, joined by policymakers, industry leaders, and stakeholders.

HM Hakim Ali, president of the Tourism Alliance Society, presided over the event, which was also attended by Nuzhat Yasmin, CEO of Bangladesh Tourism Board, and Saima Shahin Sultana, chairman of Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation.

At the event, Rezaul Ekram, general secretary of the Tourism Alliance Society, briefed participants on the objectives of the organisation.
