Techno Drugs completes production trial run for contraceptive implants
Techno Drugs Ltd has completed a trial run for producing single-rod contraceptive implants alongside the existing two-rod version.
The company has been producing two-rod contraceptive implants since 2019, supplying the products to the family planning ministry, according to a disclosure posted on the Dhaka Stock Exchange website today.
Contraceptive implants are considered an effective form of birth control.
The two-rod version consists of two small, flexible rods inserted under the skin of the upper arm, while the single-rod implant uses one.
Both types of implants will be supplied to the government, subject to securing the tender, the disclosure added.
Techno Drugs Ltd, an ISO-certified and WHO-affiliated pharmaceutical company, set up a factory in Gazipur's BK Bari in 2015 to meet rising demand.
It is the government's largest supplier of injectable hormonal medicines, and the world's fifth and Bangladesh's first contraceptive implant manufacturer, according to its website.
