Nine persons were held with cannabis today from different areas in Dhaka during a drive conducted by the Department of Narcotics Control.
The arrestees were identified as: Md Arif, 23, Md Anis, 20, Md Shawkat, 28, Md Badal, 25, Md Mamun, 21, Md Suman, 25, Nayan Ahmed, 19, Md Mahbub, 21, and Md Abdul Kader, 32.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. A mobile court of Executive Magistrate Arabinda Biswas raided Kamalapur, Tejgaon Satrasta, TT Para slum, and Segunbagicha areas and made the arrests.
Khorshid Chanchal, assistant director (public relations) of Department of Narcotics Control, confirmed The Daily Star of the development.
All of them were handed six months’ jail, he said, adding that the team also seized two kilogrammes of cannabis (marijuana) from them.
