Mob kills ‘mugger’ in Dhaka

An alleged mugger have been beaten to death by a mob when he was fleeing after snatching money from a rickshaw-puller in Wari of Dhaka.

An alleged mugger was beaten to death by a mob when he was fleeing after snatching money from a rickshaw-puller in Wari of Dhaka this morning.

The identity of the deceased was not known immediately.

When the rickshaw was crossing Wari around 06:00am, two people on a motorcycle stopped it and snatched Tk 500 from the rickshaw-puller.

Hearing hue and cry of rickshaw-puller Swapan, the muggers tried to flee but one of them was caught by an angry mob, Rajib Ahmed, a sub-inspector of Wari Police Station told The Daily Star.

They gave him a good beating, leaving him critically injured. The mugger was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead, the SI added.
