14-yr-old housewife ‘strangled’ to death in B’baria

A 14-year-old housewife was allegedly strangulated to death by her husband in Sadar upazila of Brahmanbaria today, just three months into the marriage. 

The deceased was identified as Israt Jahan Anchol, daughter of Faruk Mia of Bhatpara village in the upazila, Md Nabir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Brahmanbaria Sadar Model Police Station, told our local correspondent. 

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, the police official said.

The victim’s father alleged that her daughter was strangulated by her husband and in-laws, but they wanted to cover up the incident saying that Anchol had committed suicide.

Anchol’s husband Manna Mia, son of Shakil Mia of village Natai Mindali Para in the upazila, fled their home following the incident, the OC further said.
