3 ‘robbers’ beaten dead in Narayanganj

Three alleged robbers were beaten to death by a mob in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj early today.

The incident took place in Jinda area around 3:30am, Bangla daily Prothom Alo reports quoting Rupganj Police Station's Officer-in-Charge Mahmud Hasan.

The OC said a group of 10-15 robbers swooped on the house of one Kuddus Shikder.

Hearing screams of the family members, neighbours rushed to the spot and managed to catch three of them while the rest managed to flee the scene, the OC said.

Locals gave the three robbers a good beating that left two robbers dead on the spot, the police official said adding the other one died at Rupganj Upazila Health Complex later.

The identities of the deceased could not be known, the daily reported.
