The ongoing cold wave across the country may last for two to three days more, while the overall temperature is expected to rise at the end of this month, according to the Chuadanga Met office.

The temperature recorded in Chuadanga this morning was 6.1 degree Celsius, the lowest in the country today, Jahidul Islam, officer-in-charge of Chuadanga Met office, told The Daily Star.

The ongoing cold wave is hampering the daily life of the people in the area with an increase in reports of cold related illnesses.

Quoting district relief office sources, Bangla daily Prothom Alo reported that some 6,000 blankets have already been distributed among the poor people.

Deputy Commissioner Sayma Yunus said distribution of warm clothes under private initiative is comparatively low, and urged private organisations to stand by the poor people.
