Demand for security of threatened Christian clerics

Bangladesh Hindu Boudhha Christian Oikya Parishad today urged the government to strengthen security for the Christian clerics who received death threats.

"Around 36 people of the Christian community have so far been threatened by JMB across the country," said Rana Dasgupta, general secretary of the Parisahd.

"We demand their security so that they can observe Christmas on December 25 without fear," he said in a press conference held at Dhaka Reporters' Unity (DRU).

The religious minority communities in the country have been threatened and harassed by the extremists in many ways, he alleged.
