IFRC honours PM for disaster management role

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC) has honoured Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with a special certificate and a crest for her outstanding success in disaster management.

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC) has honoured Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with a special certificate and a crest for her outstanding success in disaster management.

IFRC Secretary General Elhadj As Sey formally handed over the certificate and the crest to the prime minister at a simple ceremony at her official residence Ganobhaban on Sunday, said a PMO press release on Tuesday.

At the function, the IFRC Secretary General highly appreciated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her leading role in global efforts for building 100 crore 'disaster-hit people' of the world as more 'disaster-tolerant' ones by 2025.

IFRC Asia Pacific Region director Xavier Castellanos, chairman of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Hafiz Ahmed Mazumdar and vice-chairman Dr Habibe Millat MP were, among others, present on the occasion.
