Khulna jute mills workers block road, rail routes

State-run jute mills’ workers of Khulna have blockaded the road and railway in the district to press for their five-point demand. The blockade is running parallel to a strike they are observing since April 4.
Workers of state-run jute mills in Khulna blockaded the road and railway in the district this morning to press for their five-point demand.
The blockade has been enforced alongside a prevailing strike, that they began since April 4, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.
They blockaded Khulna-Jessore highway in the morning. The blockade has also been enforced on the Khulna-Jessore rail route causing sufferings to numerous passengers.

The five-point demand includes payment of dues of last eight weeks and dearness allowance.
A work stoppage since April 4 (sparing the weekly holiday Friday) has caused a production deficit of nearly a thousand metric tonnes which has a market value of Tk 8 crore.
