The Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (Kuet) was shut down for an indefinite period today after a clash between two groups of students over a football match.

“The residential students have been ordered to vacate the halls,” said Registrar GM Shahidul Alam.

Male students have been given until 5:00pm to vacate residential halls. Female students will have to leave their hall within 10:00am Sunday, he added.

Students clashed over a football match between Amar Ekushey Hall and Fazlul Haque Hall yesterday afternoon.

Police were deployed on the campus at night, said Shafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Khanjahan Ali Police Station.
