Shumon Zahid, a witness in a war crimes case and son of martyred journalist Selina Parvin, is buried at Azimpur graveyard.

Shumon Zahid, a witness in a war crimes case and son of martyred journalist Selina Parvin, has been buried at Azimpur graveyard.

Shumon, who was found dead in Dhaka’s Khilgaon yesterday, was buried at the grave of his mother around 3:00pm, said his brother-in-law Kazi Muhammad Bakhtiar.

Earlier, his namaz-e-Janaza was held at the Dhaka University central mosque after Zohr prayers.

The decapitated body of Shumon was recovered from near railway tracks in Bagicha area of Khilgaon, around one kilometre off Shumon's Uttar Shahjahanpur house, yesterday morning.

Immediately after the incident, police suspect Shumon committed suicide while his family claims he was murdered in a planned way for giving testimony in a case against war criminals Chowdhury Mueen Uddin and Ashrafuzzaman Khan.

His brother-in-law ATM Enamul Haque Bulbul alleged that it was a planned murder.
