Sixth grader raped in Jashore

A sixth grader was raped at Modhupur village in Monirampur upazila of Jashore this morning, police said.

A case has been filed with Monirampur Police Station in this connection, Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Monirampur Police Station, told our Benapole correspondent.

“We are trying to arrest lone accused Abdus Sattar,” the OC said.

The OC said that the victim was returning to home from school when Abdus Sattar, 50, forcibly took her into a nearby jute field and raped her there.

The victim’s family alleged that the accused and his associates tried to influence them for not filing any complaint after the incident, our Benapole correspondent said.

Abdus Sattar, a father of five, is a repeated offender as such allegations were brought against him in the past, said Azizur Rahman, president of the managing committee of Madhupur Government Primary School.
