‘Biday Hyena Express’: Shonar Bangla Circus wraps up a four-year musical journey
Shonar Bangla Circus released their debut album "Hyena Express" on February 29, 2020. On November 25, 2021, the band held their first "Hyena Express Experience" concert at Dhaka University's TSC.
Four years later, the concert series is coming to an end. Tonight (Friday), Probar Ripon and his bandmates will perform their farewell show, "Biday Hyena Express," at The Russian House in Dhaka.
The band's vocalist, guitarist, and lyricist Probar Ripon said, "The best way to truly know a band is through their albums and solo concerts. In most lineup shows in our country, time is limited, and as a result, fans often leave unsatisfied. That's why we decided to arrange these solo concerts on our own."
Over the past four years, Shonar Bangla Circus has brought the "Hyena Express Experience" to every major city in Bangladesh except Khulna, where the band couldn't find a suitable venue.
In a press release, the band announced that all tickets for the concert have already sold out. The show will feature every track from the "Hyena Express" album, including "Epitaph," "Andho Deyal," and "Mrityu Utpadon Karkhana." The band also hinted that they might perform songs from their upcoming album "Mohashmashan."
Shonar Bangla Circus shared that "Biday Hyena Express" will offer more than just music — audiences can expect poetry, clown performances, and other artistic surprises. The three-hour concert will also showcase distinctive lighting and video projection designs to elevate the live experience.
Meanwhile, the band has completed work on their new album "Mohashmashan," which is set to be released soon. They plan to hold a nationwide solo concert tour featuring songs from the upcoming record.
The current lineup includes Probar Ripon (vocalist and guitarist), Seth Panduranga Blumberg (guitarist), Shakil Haque (bassist), Saad Chowdhury (keyboardist), and Samiul Momeet (drummer).
