Renowned Indian singer and musician Zubeen Garg has passed away following a tragic scuba-diving accident in Singapore today. According to local media reports cited by India Today, he experienced severe breathing difficulties underwater. He was rescued by Singapore police and rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors placed him under intensive care. Despite their best efforts, he could not be revived. He was 52.

The Assamese icon had travelled to Singapore to participate in the North East India Festival, where he was scheduled to perform this weekend. News of his sudden death has left fans and colleagues across India in deep shock, with tributes and condolences pouring in on social media.

Zubeen Garg was not only a celebrated playback singer but also a composer, lyricist, music director, actor, and filmmaker. Widely regarded as a cultural ambassador for North East India, he built a career that spanned more than three decades.

Born on 18 November 1972, Zubeen entered the professional music scene with his Assamese album "Anamika" in 1992. Over the years, he released numerous hit tracks across multiple languages. His national breakthrough came in 2006 with the song "Ya Ali" from Anurag Basu's film "Gangster", which catapulted him to fame across India.
