From Mumbai’s slum to magazine covers, teenager becomes face of luxury brand
Mumbai is truly a city of dreams, as a 14-year old girl from Dharavi has now become the face of luxury skin care brand Forest Essential's the Yuvati Collection.
Hailing from the biggest slum in Asia, Maleesha Kharwa is known on Instagram as 'The Princess from the Slum'. She currently has over 316,000 followers on the platform. Maleesha was discovered by actor Robert Hoffman, who is currently on her managing team.
Alongside helping her achieve her dream of becoming a model, he has also helped the young girl with her education. The actor also opened a GoFundMe page for Maleesha, to help with everything she needs.
Maleesha has given multiple interviews and has also been featured on Vogue India, where she mentioned, "This is my biggest job (Forest Essentials) till date, and it has changed my life so much. I want to be a model, but education will always come first for me."
Forest Essential's Yuvati Collection is for the younger generation, containing formulas that are catered to the skin of a teenager.
Moreover, the brand will donate 10 percent of the proceeds from the Yuvati Collection towards Project Paathshala—to provide children from underprivileged backgrounds access to education with the hope of a brighter India.
