‘Colours of Bangladesh’ brings local art to Melbourne
Abinta Gallery of Fine Arts has organised an international group exhibition in Melbourne, Australia, showcasing the richness of Bangladeshi art. Titled "Colours of Bangladesh", the event is being held from September 9 to 21 at SOL Gallery, 420 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy, Victoria.
Initiated by Abinta Gallery chairperson and noted art patron Nilu Rowshon Murshed, the exhibition aims to present Bangladeshi artists on a prominent international platform. The show features 60 works by celebrated masters Monirul Islam, Rafiqun Nabi, Mohammad Eunus, Farida Zaman, Jamal Ahmed, and Kanak Chanpa Chakma, alongside pieces by emerging talents Azmeer Hossain, Sigma Haque Angkan, Nazmul Haque Bappy, Purnia Mrittika, and Nur Munjerin Rimjhim.
The diverse collection reflects the traditions, culture, and natural beauty of Bangladesh through a range of techniques and vibrant interpretations. Each artist offers a distinct visual language, adding to the exhibition's breadth and depth.
During the exhibition period, a one-day art workshop and an art-talk session will provide visitors with opportunities to learn about the creative processes of the participating Bangladeshi artists and to exchange ideas with local art enthusiasts.
The grand opening took place on September 10 at 6pm in the presence of the featured artists and distinguished guests. "Colours of Bangladesh" remains open to the public every day from 11am to 6pm until September 21.
