A film inspired by the timeless Manna Dey classic "Coffee House" is heading to the big screen, with shooting scheduled to begin on October 7. The production will take place across scenic locations in North Bengal and Kolkata.

The project is being produced by Suan Silver Screen and will mark the on-screen reunion of Roopa Ganguly and Dolon Roy after years apart. Both actors are central to the story, which revisits the six friends immortalised in the song—Sujata, Rama, Nikhilesh, D'Souza, Amal and Moidul.

The film picks up where the song leaves off. Sujata, drawn back from abroad by memories of home, disappears from an old tea-planter's bungalow in North Bengal. Her Britain-returned granddaughter Aheri stumbles upon a diary, faded letters and the forgotten stories of six friends. What unfolds is a mystery that blends nostalgia with revelations about love, loss and destiny.

Roopa Ganguly will play Sujata, while Priyanka Bhattacharjee appears as young Rama and Dolon Roy as her older self. The cast also features Mumbai's Shubashish Ghosh, alongside Soumya Mukherjee and Anuradha Mukherjee.

Adding to the anticipation, Arijit Singh will lend his voice to a new version of Manna Dey's beloved "Coffee House" track. The song, long etched in the cultural memory of Bengalis, remains a favourite across generations.
