International Emmys 2025: Diljit Dosanjh and ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ secure nominations
Diljit Dosanjh's global streak continues, with the actor-singer earning a nomination at the 2025 International Emmy Awards. The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the full list on Thursday (September 25), confirming Dosanjh's place in the Best Performance by an Actor category and a nod for his film "Amar Singh Chamkila" in the Best TV Movie/Mini-Series segment.
Following the announcement, Dosanjh shared a brief note on Instagram Stories, crediting director Imtiaz Ali and Netflix India: "It's all because of Imtiaz Ali sir @netflix_in."
A total of 64 nominees across 16 categories were revealed. Dosanjh competes alongside David Mitchell for "Ludwig", Oriol Pla for "Yo, Adicto", and Diego Vasquez for "One Hundred Years of Solitude".
In Imtiaz Ali's "Amar Singh Chamkila", Dosanjh portrays the controversial Punjabi folk singer who was killed in the 1980s at the peak of his career. The Netflix production, released on April 12, 2024, chronicles Chamkila's meteoric rise and tragic death, highlighting his bold lyrics on love, rebellion and social realities. Parineeti Chopra plays his wife Amarjot in the film.
Indian productions have steadily gained recognition at the International Emmys in recent years. Netflix's "Delhi Crime" won Best Drama Series in 2020, while comedian Vir Das claimed an award in 2021 for his special "Vir Das: For India".
The 53rd International Emmy Awards will be held in New York City on November 24, 2025.
