These incidents only make AL's future even more uncertain, says BNP leader

Regarding the incident in New York where eggs were thrown at NCP leader Akhter Hossen, BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury today said that it was not a big deal.

"This doesn't matter much, it's not something significant," Amir Khosru told journalists in Chattogram's Agrabad today after attending the internship completion and MBBS certificate distribution ceremony of the 14th batch of Ma O Shishu General Hospital Medical College.

Asked for his comments on the New York egg attack, the BNP leader, referring to the Awami League, said, "After being politically defeated and fleeing abroad, what else can they do except this? There's nothing left for their supporters to do other than such activities. They never believed in democracy. They destroyed the country and fled, and now they are engaging in destructive acts overseas."

He added, "These incidents only make their [Awami League's] future even more uncertain."

Responding to a question on whether there was any lapse on the part of the Bangladesh consulate regarding security, Amir Khosru said, "Security is not the responsibility of the consulate, it's the host country's jurisdiction.

"The consulate's intelligence team perhaps should have been aware. Anyway, these incidents don't matter much. In a democratic country, such things can happen -- by supporters or even by those who don't have any support. It doesn't take much effort to do this."
