Bangladeshi man charged in Malaysia over compatriot's murder

Mohammad Imran (32), a cleaner in Malaysia, was charged with murdering Alam Safiq at the entrance of Kompleks Astaka Bukit Gedung, Bayan Baru of Malaysian state Penang, between 9.30-11.17pm, on August 21.
No plea was entered by the accused as the case was under the jurisdiction of the Malaysian High Court.
The charge, under Section 302 of the country' Penal Code, carries mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
The court fixed November 23 for mention pending the post-mortem report.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Atikah Asharaf Ali appeared for the prosecution while the accused was unrepresented.
