‘7th Eastern Himalayan Naturenomics Forum 2019’ to be held in Guwahati

After six successful editions, the next ‘7th Eastern Himalayan Naturenomics Forum 2019’, will be held on November 5 and 6 at Hotel Palacio, Guwahati in India.

After six successful editions, the next ‘7th Eastern Himalayan Naturenomics Forum 2019’, will be held on November 5 and 6 at Hotel Palacio, Guwahati in India.

With the theme of ‘Nature capital towards universal basic assets’, the forum will be organised to make people understand and discuss possible ways to create a system for enhancing natural capital and sustainable liquidation processes to build universal basic assets among vulnerable forest-fringe communities.

The announcement of the forum was come after a press conference where Tata Daimari, assistant secretary of Dhansiri Joint Forest Management Committee, Prabir Banerjea, co-founder & managing member of Balipara Foundation, Robin Eastment, project lead of Udalguri Landscape Mission of Balipara Foundation, Gautam Baruah, naturenomics knowledge & implementation of Balipara Foundation, Rhea Hussain, custodian rural futures of Balipara Foundation were also present among others.

The organisers said they will capture the need for a nature-oriented economy to support a holistic growth of communities as well as to conserve biodiversity and natural resources and will find new ways to drive sustainable action to build rural futures.

Earlier, the organization set its target of creating one million natural assets by 2020 and to create 1.2 million natural assets through rural futures programme, with communities in Udalguri and Balipara.

Ambassador Chandrashekhar Dasgupta, Ashoka University’s Chancellor Rudrangshu Mukherjee, Country Director for Earth Day India Karuna A. Singh, Chief Executive Officer of Sithar Coffee, Myanmar Thu Zaw, Vice President of WILD Foundation, USA will attend this year’s forum with many other distinguished personalities.

Eastern Himalayan Naturenomics Forum, is an auxiliary of Balipara Foundation which is the largest forum of its kind in the region, dedicated towards community building in Asia established in 2007.
