Sabbir determined to ‘prove’ his worth again in 11th BPL

Offering him a fresh chance to prove his worth at the upcoming 11th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), the right-hander has been picked by Dhaka Capitals from the draft.

Out-of-favour Bangladesh batter Sabbir Rahman remains optimistic about returning to the national fold, having last played for the country in a T20I against Pakistan in 2022.

Once considered one of the brightest prospects in the country, the 33-year-old had mostly displayed a hit-and-miss show in 11 Tests, 66 ODIs, and 48 T20Is -- averaging around 25 in all formats -- since his national debut in 2014.

"I am definitely preparing [for the national team]. I still have my age on the side," Sabbir told reporters, as quoted by Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS).

Offering him a fresh chance to prove his worth at the upcoming 11th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), the right-hander has been picked by Dhaka Capitals from the draft. Sabbir, who recently played in the Sri Lanka T10, had missed out on the last BPL season.

"I got a chance in the BPL. I had played domestic T20 cricket around the world. So I will try to make a strong comeback by playing well in this BPL.

"I have proven myself many times before. It is important for me to prove myself again... I hope I won't be nervous," he said.
