Shamim Hossain’s brave innings went in vain as Chittagong Kings suffered a 37-run defeat against Khulna Tigers in their Bangladesh Premier League (BPL)  encounter at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium today.

The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) almost witnessed its first ever time out incident today when Khulna Tigers captain Mehedi Hasan Miraz appealed for the dismissal against Chittagong Kings’ batter Tom O’Connell but later retracted the appeal at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

Durbar Rajshahi captain Anamul Haque Bijoy claimed that players are yet to receive payments for playing in the ongoing edition of the Bangladesh Premier League, which kicked off today at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. 

A few hours before the start of the opening match between reigning champions Fortune Barishal and Durbar Rajshahi, fans gathered in large numbers in front of the main gate of the Mirpur stadium. They even broke the main gate in protest of the BCB’s ticketing system.

Among these efforts, the board organised a concert to promote the BPL nationwide. Additionally, several participating teams have introduced their own theme songs.

Currently, BCB is asking Tk three crore from each BPL franchise as a bank guarantee, which they wanted to confirm by December 24 after extending the deadline multiple times and reducing the amount on each occasion.

Pakistan’s ace pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi will play for reigning champions Fortune Barishal in the upcoming 11th edition of Bangladesh Premier League T20, scheduled to start on December 30.
