Renowned actors Ilias Kanchan and Azmeri Haque Badhan have been appointed as members of two different jury boards for the 23rd edition of the Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) next year. 

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has announced changes to the National Film Awards 2023 jury board. The board, initially reformed on September 15, has undergone modifications with new members appointed in place of some earlier listed names. 

A new film titled “Operation Jackpot”, highlighting the daring guerrilla missions of naval commandos during a pivotal moment in Bangladesh’s Liberation War, is currently in production. 

The jury board for the National Film Award 2023, initially composed of actor Ilias Kanchan, actress Aupee Karim, singer Nazmun Munira Nancy, and music director Prince Mahmud, has undergone a significant reshuffle. As of today, Monday, Ilias Kanchan has officially stepped down from his role on the board.

A new set of jury board members has been announced who would be selecting the recipients for the National Film Award 2023. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting disclosed this in a gazette published this evening.

Following the fall of the former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government, widespread reforms are sweeping across the country. Every sector is changing, with new measures being implemented. The tenure of the current committee of the Bangladesh Film Artists' Association is nearing its end. Accordingly, the new date for the 2024-26 committee election has been finalised. It is scheduled to take place on April 19 at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC). In anticipation of this, both current and former leaders of the association are busy forming panels.

Meanwhile, it has also been confirmed that Dipjol will contest from a separate panel.

Ilias Kanchan, the president of the Bangladesh Film Artistes Association (BFAA), has had a long and prosperous career in cinema. He recently assumed the role of president of cinema artistes and excitingly, he will be appearing in an upcoming TV drama.
