Director Piplu R Khan’s pandemic-era drama “Jaya Aar Sharmin” will premiere on Chorki at 12:01 am on September 25. “Putulnacher Itikatha” (The Puppet’s Tale), starring Jaya Ahsan, is finally set to hit theatres on August 1. Directed by Suman Mukhopadhyay, the long-awaited adaptation of Manik Bandopadhyay’s iconic novel features Jaya in the role of Kusum, alongside Abir Chatterjee as Shashi and Parambrata Chatterjee as Kumud.

According to the director, while the plot revolves around a young daughter and her parents, the film also explores other complex relationships within a modern family dynamic.

Tanim Noor’s Eid release “Utshob” has emerged as a box office success, earning over Tk 1.14 crore within just 10 days of its theatrical run. The film, which continues to draw strong audience response, is now gearing up for international release.

For anyone who grew up “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens, “Utshob” is a warm wave of nostalgia. For those raised in 1990s Bangladesh -- whether or not they’re familiar with Dickens -- the film offers a loving nod to the dramas and films of that era. And even for viewers with no emotional ties to either Dickens or the 90s, this film still feels like a two-hour-long hug, a very warm one.

Six films were released across cinemas in Bangladesh this Eid. Among them, “Taandob”, starring Shakib Khan and directed by Raihan Rafi, has led the charts from Eid day through the fifth day of the holiday. The film was released in 133 theatres nationwide, with midnight screenings (12am–3am) running in venues such as Chhaya Bani in Mymensingh, Rajtilok in Rajshahi, and Modhubon Cineplex in Bogura.
