Bangladesh skipper Liton Das said that the dew factor played the main role in their series loss against the inexperienced UAE after the Tigers lost the third and final game of the three-match series by seven wickets at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium yesterday.

Despite posting an imposing 205 for five in the second and penultimate T20I on Monday, the Tigers fell apart in the field, suffering their first-ever loss to the hosts in any format.

“Any loss is hard, but we still batted well on this wicket. Wicket was pretty good, when they batted, they had the favour of dew,” said Liton at the post-match presentation.

"The wicket looked good to bat on. I thought the way Emon played was really amazing to watch,” said Liton during post-match presentation ceremony. Emon smashed a blistering 54-ball 100 — the fastest T20I century by a Bangladeshi. 

Bangladesh’s T20I captain, Liton Das, said he wants all players to enjoy their cricket and not focus too much on the result in the two-match T20I series against hosts UAE, starting with the first game at Sharjah Cricket Stadium today.

With a five-T20I tour of Pakistan to follow, and the Asia Cup likely to be staged in the UAE, these games offer a timely opportunity to assess conditions and sharpen plans.

Bangladesh’s newly appointed T20I captain, Liton Das, stated that the national team would have no objections to touring Pakistan later this month if the conditions are deemed favourable by the authorities.

Liton Das’ form has been poor for a while, not having scored a fifty in ODIs since the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup, but as a skipper he impressed with his tactics in a 3-0 T20I series sweep in West Indies last year.

Liton Das has been named captain of the Bangladesh T20I team till the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced today.

Liton suffered a finger injury during a practice session with Karachi Kings earlier last month and had to return home without competing in the ongoing Pakistan Super League.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is waiting on the injury assessment of Liton Das as the wicketkeeper-batter is the frontrunner to captain the Tigers in their upcoming T20I series against the UAE and Pakistan.
