The makers of "Neerja", a Sonam Kapoor starrer biopic on the late flight attendant Neerja Bhanot, want the film to be India's official entry to the Oscars next year.

Neerja, a biopic, encapsulates the life of Neerja Bhanot, head purser, Pan Am flight 73, which was hijacked in Karachi in September 1986 where she laid down her life heroically, trying to save the passengers.

Neerja Bhanot, who sacrificed her life to save a group of American children aboard a Pan Am flight that was hijacked on the ground at Karachi in 1986, is to be immortalised in a biopic featuring Bollywood star Sonam Kapoor.
