Sajeeb Wazed Joy, ICT Adviser to the Prime Minister, has been awarded the 'ASOCIO Leadership Award-2021' on the second day of the World Congress on Information Technology 2021 (WCIT 2021). 

The World Congress on Information Technology-2021, WCIT 2021, was inaugurated in Dhaka today on November 11, 2021. President Abdul Hamid inaugurated the conference from a video call. The 25th edition of the International Conference on Information Technology, known as the Olympics of the Information Technology world, started today at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) with the slogan 'ICT the Great Equalizer'.

Facebook Inc announced on Tuesday it is shutting down its facial recognition system, which automatically identifies users in photos and videos, citing growing societal concerns about the use of such technology.

Facebook's instant messaging platform Messenger is reportedly down in a global outage for users across the world, including users in Bangladesh. Local users started noticing the issue around 12 AM Bangladesh Standard Time, BST. OpenRefactory, a BD-US led deep-tech startup, has won USD 100,000/- grant at the 'Bangabandhu Innovation Grant (BIG) 2021'. Organised by the Innovation Design and Entrepreneurship Academy (iDEA) Project of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) under the ICT Division, 36 startups were chosen from home and abroad for the finale.
