State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Tarana Halim says the government will not extend the deadline for re-registration of SIM cards with biometric data.
State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Tarana Halim today said the government will not extend the deadline for re-registration of SIM cards with biometric data.
The minister said this after inaugurating five re-registration points inside the Secretariat for all its officials.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. She added that all the mobile operators are successfully sharing and using over 1 lakh fingerprint scanning devices for the re-registration.
Tarana informed that over 6.35 lakh SIMs have already been registered as of Monday and hoped that all the other remaining SIMs will be re-registered within the given time.
Those who will fail to do so will face temporary deactivation of their numbers, followed by a text message to re-register immediately.
