Recently, secondary level students of International School Dhaka (ISD) performed a modern German drama, which follows the story of a baby who becomes disconnected from their family during the war, and is brought up by a peasant.

Noted dancer Pooja Sengupta, who is also the artistic director of Turongomi Repertory Dance Theatre, has now become a tutor for Canada's Ambassador to Bangladesh, Dr Lilly Nicholls. The esteemed Ambassador has been taking dance lessons religiously, once every week, for almost five months now.

The inauguration of the exhibition took place at Gallery Shilpangan, Lalmatia on December 4. Artist and cartoonist Shishir Bhattacharjee, and Professor Nisar Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Art at University of Dhaka were present at the opening ceremony.

"Shonglogno", a solo exhibition featuring the works of Rakibul Anwar was recently displayed at La Galerie, Alliance Francaise, Dhaka. The exhibition was inaugurated on November 18, in the presence of Her Excellency, Marie Masdupuy, Ambassador of France to Bangladesh; eminent artist Professor Dhali Al Mamoon, and artist-critic Mustafa Zaman.

On November 10, Project 88 inaugurated Munem Wasif's second solo-exhibition at their gallery in Mumbai, India. The exhibition is titled "Kromosho"--'step by step' in Bengali--and features Wasif's body of work, which the artiste has developed over almost two decades. Munem Wasif’s image-based works often mix photographs with moving images, archive documents or collected paraphernalia to reveal notions of impermanence and insecurity. A major theme throughout his work, is the philosophy of leaving things open to interpretation.

Ekushey Padak-winning choreographer and dance maestro Golam Mostofa Khan died Sunday night at Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka. He was 82 years old. After the country’s independence, he was one of the integral figures in the popularisation of dance as an art form in the region. The cultural personality passed away after suffering from pneumonia and old-age related health problems. The Daily Star reached out to eminent dancers from Bangladesh, who shared their respects for the departed figure.

Abhijit Chowdhury’s 15th solo art exhibition, “(Non) hierarchical Order of Forms”, opened at La Galerie, Alliance Francaise, Dhaka on November 4.

Yesterday, photographer Dinu Alam—who is currently based in Toronto, Canada—hosted a press conference at the National Press Club in Paltan. The conference was held to announce that photographs taken by him during the anti-Ershad mass movement of 1987, would be free-to-use for the public.

The inauguration of “My Blue Stories”—the solo painting exhibition of Russian artist, Sofya Yechina—took place at Gallery Chitrak on October 24. Dr Hasan Mahmud, Honourable Minister of Information was present as the chief guest of the event. Also present at event, were His Excellency (HE) Alexander Vikentyevich Mantytskiy, Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh, as the special guest, and pioneer cartoonist Prof Rafiqun Nabi as the chairperson. “My Blue Stories” has been curated by art critic Aminur Rahman.

Remembering the late Indian singer, cultural icon and politician from Assam, Dr Bhupen Hazarika on his 11th death anniversary, State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid mentions, “Hazarika's songs played an influential role during the 1971 Liberation War of Bangladesh.”
